Get a home battery

By Fabrice Florin, Green Change

Did you know that using home batteries can save money and time, as well as protect you and the environment?

Home batteries of all sizes can be lifesavers during power outages. They don’t pollute like gas generators and are quieter and safer to operate. They will power your essential appliances when you need them most — and can be recharged with solar energy.

Batteries can help with your daily energy use too. Charge your batteries when energy rates are cheap, and use your stored electricity when rates are high.

Home batteries come in different sizes. Find the system that best fits your budget and energy needs. To power our home during outages, we have both a mid-size battery (Yeti 1.5 Kwh, pictured above) and a large home battery (SunVault 13 Kwh, powered by our rooftop solar system).

To power your home longer, consider getting a solar generator, which includes both a home battery and solar panels. This lets you recharge your battery during the day, so you can use it at night.
