Join a local climate action group

Would you like to help your community speed up climate action in your area?

Consider joining a local climate action group! Across the country, grassroots organizations of concerned citizens are working with their city or county governments to fight climate change at the local level.

While individual actions are important to address climate change, collective actions can make a big difference. Establishing policies that promote building electrification, clean transportation, composting organics, and eliminating plastic food ware can have a much wider reach than your own actions.

If you live in Marin County, you might like to connect with Sustainable Marin, a non-profit organization of volunteers who advocate and educate about sustainability at the County level in Marin. They have local chapters in many cities in our area, from Mill Valley to Novato and San Rafael, which you can join to promote climate action in your area.

Sustainable Marin is now creating a new Climate Rapid Response Network (CRRN) of community leaders and volunteers who are interested in participating in climate policy initiatives in their community. Would you like to help them pass sustainable policies in your city or town? Marin residents can sign up here for this new project.

Another local group that is taking collective action for climate is the Marin/Sonoma Building Electrification Squad, which is helping Marin County and Marin cities to jointly develop an all-electric ordinance for new buildings.

Wherever you live, we invite you to join forces with your neighbors to promote climate action in your area.

Think globally, act locally!
