Share your climate actions

By Fabrice Florin, Green Change

A great way to engage people to take climate action is to share your own.

By sharing climate actions you have already taken, you can inspire your friends and neighbors to take them in their own lives. Hearing your experience will give them confidence that they can follow in your footsteps and do the same.

You can share your actions in many different ways: from in-person conversations with people you know, to public presentations at community meetings and of course, through email and social media.

It doesn’t matter if the action you’re sharing is large or small. You can be a positive influence whether you’re sharing a healthy recipe for eating sustainably – or tips about riding an electric bike or installing solar panels in your home.

Human beings are social animals. We pay attention to what people around us are doing, and if we see our neighbors taking climate action successfully, it often makes us want to do the same, so we don’t feel left out. Behavioral research suggests that people are more likely to take an action if their peers are also taking it.

If you use Facebook, a good place to share your climate actions is our Green Change Network group page. Join our network, and start sharing your climate actions with the rest of us.

This is a great opportunity for you to act as a role model for your community – and be the change you wish to see in the world!
