Use a water calculator

You can learn a lot about your household’s water use by using a water calculator. This simple, online tool prompts you to answer questions about your use of water in the following three categories:

• Indoors: water that is used in bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry

• Outdoors: water that is used for lawns and gardens, washing your car, filling a pool 

• “Virtual”: water that is used in the production of your food, electricity, gas, and home goods 

In addition to a detailed breakdown of your household’s water use, the calculator provides tips for saving water. This is a great first step in reducing your water use!
